On our flight to Hawaii, we had someone in the row behind us who was complaining about their seats, the flight attendant’s attitude, and a whole list of other things. This is someone on a flight to Hawaii to spend a vacation with her family. How would her attitude have changed is she had been more grateful? One of the great things about gratitude is that it is hard to be angry, frustrated, or stressed when you are grateful. That is why I have been working to practice more gratitude in my life. While it is not always easy, I certainly find that I do not get angry or frustrated with people nearly as often (and I have one teen and one pre-teen in my house). That is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday of the year. It is a time when, as a country, we pause and all think about what we are grateful for. I always find that people are just nicer and in a better mood over Thanksgiving holiday weekend. As you reflect on what you are grateful for this Thanksgiving, think about how you can be more grateful throughout the year. If your experience is anything like mine, it makes life a lot less stressful and more enjoyable. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
